One. Astronaut Chris Hadfield led Calgary Stampede Parade 2013. Jesse Palmer of Bachelor fame was in town recently for the Calgary Stampede, hitting up some hot spots. That is what he said: “Amidst all the tragedy and everything that happened I’m just so amazed by the men and women who volunteered across the city – they did just such an amazing job. Stampede opened and went on. I can’t say enough about the people of this city and I CalgaryStampede2013think it really speaks to the power of the human spirit and the people of Calgary.”

Two. The newest ride on the Calgary Stampede midway is guaranteed to take you to new heights. Towering 37 meters over the grounds, Mach 3 is the newest edition to the North American Midway Entertainment lineup of thrill rides. Mach 3 has two sets of two seats mounted at the end of each arm. Each four-seat assembly can swing 360 degrees and rotates 11 times back-to-back.

Three. At Coca-Cola stage of the Stampede grounds Hypnotist Terry Stokes has been entertaining Stampede crowds for 37 years. He says:” I have so much fun doing it. Believe it or not. I have people come up that were in my show 25 years ago. I have fun and it never gets boring for me so it never gets boring for them. I might do some of the same material but I add new stuff every show. It’s unscripted so I just make it up as I go.”

Four. Feuding with your “family” in front of a large crowd is totally acceptable at the Calgary Stampede, if not encouraged. Family Feud Live  is one of the North America’s most well-known game shows.The present live version of the show is hosted by Canadian comedian Caroline Rhea, whose resume includes former host of the Biggest Loser, Aunt Hilda on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and host of Slice TV’s Cakewalk: Wedding Cake Edition. This is Rhea’s first crack at hosting a game show and she says that she is loving every minute of it.

Five. It’s not fair to mention as a news about the Saturday’s derailment in LacMegantic, Que. “This is a tragic event that shakes everybody and shakes all of us that are in the business”.(Russ Girling, TransCanada Corp. CEO) The motto of the day: “Come Hell or High Water, We will Stampede.”
