To feel better the Religious Mood, listen to the wonderful music performed by Moscow Chamber Choir:Praise the Lord from Sergey Rachmaninov.
The 19th of January is a big Orthodox Holiday, Epiphany. This day is widely celebrated in Russia now and before. As usual, in old days there were strong frosts, but according to the Russian tradition one has to feel connected to the water: to refresh oneself, refresh one’s mind, heart, beliefs.
Do you remember Pushkin?
“Epiphany frost is not an obstacle…
All, jump into the river ice-hole!”
For us at least, to the shower! Happy Epiphany to all, my dears, Let Health, Love and Humor attend you!
As for us, on that occasion we invited Father Stanislav from the Russian Orthodox Church of St. John Chrysostom which is in the South West of Calgary near St. Mary’s College.
What a wonderful blessing he performed with holy water and tiny crosses on the walls drawn on all the corners of our house. We prayed together and then drank tea with pancakes.
The real Siberian spirit emanated from him. God bless you, Father Stanislav, in all your beginnings and holy deeds. We will support you as much as we can.
Welcome to this new Russian Orthodox Church of St. John Chrysostom, the Golden Mouth. The service is held on Sundays at 10-00 a. m. The Father Stanislav’s telephone number is: 1(403)-257-4899
Listen, please, to the other song sang by the same choir: P. I. Tchaikovsky “Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom”, Glory to be Thee
