  • “Ave Maria” song or «Аве Мария» песня

“ Ave Maria” song is mostly famous and recognized everywhere for its beauty.

Schubert composed the music to the words of one of the British poets and so,

it became very popular for many great performers, among them: Lucano Pavarotti ,

Andrea Bocceli, etc. For myself, I prefer Russian singer Ekaterina Shelehova.

    Here it is:

  • “If Lyusya Kuznetsova were Alive…” or “Если бы Люся Кузнецова была бы живой”

If Lyusya Kuznetsova, our class mate from school, we’re alive,

she would go with us to celebrate today’s festive day of our native

town of Bryansk, the day of the liberation from the Nazi.

What a wonderful girl she was! I remember when our favourite

teacher Nina Nikolaevna recollected Lyusya, she told me how

she always found her from missing classes where? In the cinema theatre

where she helped to the camera man to show the new films.

From the young age she demonstrated her determination  and love

    to be an operator.
But myself I remember her when we were chitchatting on our return from the

funerals of Nina Nikolaevna’s daughter. What a simple, down-to-earth conversation

was then between us! Later she gave as a present her photo in 2006. And her handwriting

at the back of it. You can see it now.

Lyusya is at her home in 2006

We remember you, Lyusya, and all the rest people,

whom we love, and who is not with us anymore.

    We never forget you.

That is why I am writing this post and finding the

music suitable for this moment to attract your attention.

  • “I have Nothing, Nothing, Nothing, if I don’t have You, You, You” or «У меня нет Ничего, Ничего, Ничего, если нет у меня Тебя, Тебя, Тебя» The Dutch Tenors cover of Whitney Houston famous ballad “ I have Nothing”

Great Kafka’s thought came to my mind “ I lack nothing, I only need myself”,

when I was listening to the prominent Dutch group “ The Dutch Tenors” ,

performing “ I have Nothing” , a live version of the song which is available on You Tube.

The lyrics speak ,opposite, Kafka, to a deep, unwavering love and the fear of losing someone, highlighting the singer’s devotion and refusal to change for anyone but their

    loved one.

The members of the Dutch Tenors are: Jonathan Vroege, Frank van Henge,, Dirk van den Brand, and Floris van Gulik. This classical pop quartet, originally from Netherlands, performs a repertoire of classical music, film music, pop hits, and contemporary songs worldwide.

  • “Dance: Art or Sport? Or « Tанец – это искусство или спорт”

Both. It’s mainly an amazing art form, yet it’s also a sport.Sport generally is a some form of fitness, and physical strength etc. all of which are required in dance.

It’s an art form as the dancers every inch of their bodies and music to convey

    feelings, that words cannot describe.

It’s full understanding of using their body in precisely timed movements to convey a story, emotions which they want to pass to the audience.

Dance is an artful sport. Competitive dancing is a sport with winners and losers.

Back to my youth in city of Bryansk , Russia, I remember  that very many prominent

Russian and foreign artists were touring  there. Among them there was ballerina Maya

Plissetskaya. Her dance “ Dying Swan” still stays vividly in front of my eyes right now.

Her hands sailing in the air, her unusual external face expression, long and thin legs moving gently following every curve of her body.

It seemed to me at that second that her human body was slowly transforming into the

swan’s. And it was the last moment of the bird’s life.

Or, it was just as usual my creative imagination played  a joke on me?

I shaked my head, looking around in the theatre. Then I didn’t think whether

the dance was an art or a sport. I was deeply immersed into the beauty of performance.

And all of a sudden my eye caught a little figure of the girl, dressed as a ballerina and

repeating each movement of Maya Plissetskaya on the stage, trying hard following the music.

I was astonished and at the same time pleasantly glad to see that I am not alone who admired the dance of the great ballerina.

I noticed nobody watching her closely, perhaps she made this decision by herself- approach the stage performer.

Very soon the magic was over, and I left the theatre.

But the impressions about Maya  Plissetskaya’s “ Dying Swan” still remains in my mind.

Watch on you tube her show.

  • “Look at Luka!” Or «Посмотрите на Луку!»

My love for cello music came back from Russia – Mstislav Rostropovich cello concerts.

38 y.o. Croatian cellist  Luka Sulic is in my view at the present moment.

He is a former member of “ Two Cellos Duo” with his friend Hauser.

Luka Sulic is my preference of this cross-over, classical cello music.

i consider him a very elegant, soft – spoken with sense of humour,

down -to-earth musician. Very professional, and loved by many fans,

    including me.

Listen to Luka Sulic “ Live at the Union Chapel” :
