  • Happy Fairy Tale – First Birthday to you, Johnny!

John 1 year, 2016In the valley of mountainous Bow River, in the city of Calgary you were born, John! And your fairy-tale life started with growing up by days, by months and now by years…

Every day little John discovered new things for himself: new toys, new majestic children’s shows, new food which Mommy and Daddy prepared deliciously for him.

Everybody seemed to like John whether it was at his baptism celebration at the restaurant “New Dynasty” or at home at family get-togethers.  He grew up as a lovable, good-natured person. But close to Christmas time a little fairy-tale miracle happened to be. He saw a tiny pretty face of a girl by name Diana.

“Oh”, thought to himself John, ” now my life is becoming more interesting. I will have a buddy for my games. “Only one thing is surprising me- she is too little. Maybe she will grow up as I did at my time. Patience, my friend, patience.” he continued to talk to himself. And it was the truth: in half a year she began crawling and to understand many things that he did. The fairy tale kept on only with the difference of the age – a half a year. “She is beautiful. Whom does she remind me?” asked himself John. And answered: “Blooming lotus. I saw in adults’ shows”.

    Happy fairy-tales to you, John!

Our friends Lyudmila Klacz, her husband Woytek and son Joseph and Janko and me met at Bonavista Lake community square near Esso station to get free Stampede

Attracted to cheerful music, we started to dance and won the prize: small sets of cosmetic things. Multi-coloured balloons were flying in the air, kids were having fun as usual, everywhere happy faces and smiles…

After that we continued our way to Spruce Meadows grounds to watch the North American Championship in horse riding and

jumps with barriers. It was a very interesting show. It reminded me about my first visit to Spruce Meadows on May 31, 1999. As far as I remember I wrote a poem “A Horse was Born as an Animal of Beauty”.  At the end of it I wrote:

“A horse was born as an animal of perfection,

In casual homestead and for entertaining,

Whatever purpose to be, your satisfaction,

Is guaranteed in her closeness and endearing.”

We watched the competition, travelled around the Spruce Meadows grounds, noticing how big they grow, stopped at the  Ice Cream Parlour, Memorial Avenue, and all of a sudden… Lo and Behold! Janko met his buddy from the previous job site: Canadian pacific Railways. It was Dale Gale, sitting proudly on the white horseback, demonstrating her most wonderful features: her gait, her tenderness and loyalty to the host. Dale’s wife Helen was nearby, in the same way sitting on the brown horseback. They told us that they were doing this job with horses volunteerly because they live at their farmers’ house and look after horses. Pleasant meeting with pleasant people!

  • Verses from the Heart (Lidia Spitsyna as a Guest at my Muca Saloon)

Lidia, Inna & meOur local poetess Lidia Spitsyna visited us not long ago with her new verses impromptu. Here they are in my translation:

    “Here are the different rules,

    And different “ego”s there are:

    No-one wants to see no-ones,

To live just for what you are.

    No-one listens to no-ones,

Does not accept even the tears,

    Estranged themselves all at once,

    From own beloved mothers.

Their heads get dizzy with mummons,

To the extremes – forget the Lord!

At their end of life, it summons,

To be in comfort or somewhere else?”
