One. A British Short hair-cut cat, dressed to participate in a feline autumn fashion show, is seen during an international cat exhibition in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on Sunday,(“Calagary Herald”, September 12, 2011).
Two. Russian film-maker Alexander Sokurov won the Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival on Saturday for “FAUST”, a visceral take on Goethe’s play, which exposes the theme of corrupting power. Sokurov is the second Russian director ever to win the Golden Lion, before it was awarded to Andrey Zvyagintsev for “The Return” in 2003.
Three. Jordan Clark, a 19-year-old contemporary dancer from Tottenham, Ont., was crowned Canada’s favourite dancer on CTV’s show “So You Think You Can Dance, Canada” on Sunday. Throughout the competition, the dancer with the wild mane of red curls combined impressive flexibility with elegant line and fiery attack. She wins $100,000 and a car.
Four. Eric Lamaze, on Hickstead, is a happy Canadian after winning the CN International Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows, Calgary on Sunday. “I knew he would come here in great form”, Lamaze said of his horse Hickstead.
For Lamaze, it was the perfect ending to a fabulous summer which saw him become the first rider to crack the $3-million mark at Spruce meadows-his grand total cha-chinging in at $3,500,572 after Sunday.
Five. Sam Stosur stellar is in beating Williams in U.S. Open Tennis Final. She said:” I think I had one of my best days, I’m very fortunate to do it on this stage”. Sam Stosur became the first Australian woman to win a major championship since Evonne Goolagong Cawley at Wimbledon in 1980.
