One. Bonsai tree in U.S. National Arboretum in training since 1625. 65 years ago, during the World War II, a B-29 bomber, known as the “Enola Gay”, dropped the first atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima, 
Japan, killing hundreds of thousands of people.
Among the survivors was a small tree, a Bonsai, which ended up in the U.S. as part of a national gift from japan. The Bonsai, now around 400 years old, is still alive, and forms part of one of the most striling collections in the U.S. capital.
Two. Taste of Calgary. August 13-16 at Eau Claire’s festival plaza. Come out, come hungry. Three. Calgary Dragon Boat Race & Festival. August 22-23 at North Glenmore Park. Over 1850 competitors and 4000 spectators get together for two days of excitement and cultural experiences. Geared towards creating an unforgettable experience, the dragon boat competition illustrates comradery, teamwork and inspiration.
Four. Trico Homes International Fireworks Festival. August 20-29 from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. Elliston Park. The International Fireworks festival illuminates the sky with a colliding orchestra of light and sound. Presentation produced by world-renowned pyro musical artists hailing from Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, France and culminating with Globalfest’s own spectacular presentation. Five. August, 1, Comedy Cave at Travel Lodge Inn, Calgary. Very popular in North America, comedian Lamont Ferguson performed with great success. Those who like stand-up jokes and brilliant professional shows, need to visit comedy clubs frequently.
