Abstract7One. 21 pianists from 1 2 countries converge on Calgary for the Honens International Piano Competition which runs until November 6 (one of the world’s most prestigious events).

Two. The city of Calgary has organized a forum on November 2, 2009 from 5;30 to 7:00 p.m. at the auditorium in Bankers’ Hall where buskers will be able to share their views and make recommendations on city street policy.

Three. A group of High School students got a chance to help build the Silverado home inside and out. Good for them, Jack James High School students Shaun Gravelle, Gary Nicol and Austin Praestgaard!

Four. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said last Thursday that the world’s poor nations will not sacrifice their development in negotiations for a new climate change deal.

Five. 35 boats carrying about 1,700 asylum seekers that have arrived to Australia this year, mostly from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and Sri Lanka.
