One. This is a girl band, but it should really be called a granny band because the average age of its members is 84, the oldest member is 97. The Band, KBG84, is from Kohama Island, in Okinawa, Japan, and is gaining popularity after its first single, “Come On and Dance, Kohama Island”, hit the top of the charts. The elderly, but extremely energetic, women have toured across Japan, dancing and singing songs about their home island, and winning friends and fans everywhere they go. It is evident that Okinawa has some of the longest life expectancy in the world.
Two. There are strong men, and then There’s Andrey Rodichev. The Russian power-lifter climbed Europe’s highest mountain, Mount Elbrus, with a 75-kilogram (165-lb) barbell on the back. Not surprisingly, he was the first to ever complete such a feat. The intention was to combine two sports: trekking and power-lifting. Rodichev attached the barbell to his back with special straps and moved about 50 metres (0.03 mi.) per hour. He reached the destination in eight days. Most trekkers carry packs weighing 25 to 30 kilograms (55 to 66 lbs.). Rodichev’s barbell remains at the top of the mountain as a symbol of his achievements.
