One. Zoolights is the most popular and largest light show in Calgary. The interactive display boasts more than 1.5 million individual light bulbs arranged into the shape of animals, birds and Christmas figures. It runs from November 27 to January 3, 2010. Entrance fee is $ 8 for adults and $ 5- for children.
Two. Lions Festival of Lights in Confederation Park has become a yearly tradition in Calgary. It is free and open to the public from November 28 to January 8, 2010. (14 Street at 24 Avenue,N.W.).
Three. The Lighting of the Menorah at City Hall begins on December 12 this year at Hanukkah. The menorah will be on display in City Hall, from December 12 to 19, 2009. (800 Macleod Tr.,S.E.).
Four. The Canadian Pacific Railway’s Holiday Train will choo-choo its way across Canada and the United States, making dozens of stops along the way to raise money for local food banks. It will stop at 16 Alberta locations, including Calgary between 6 and 6:45 p.m. on December 11, 2009. (9511 Horton Road S.W. behind the Brick).
Five. Banff Santa Claus Parade of Lights starts on December 2009 featuring Santa Claus and a number of floats making their way down the town’s main drag to kick off the Christmas season. Christmas in the Rockies coincides with a yearly event which includes festive activities, craftmaking, cookie decorating, carolling and a tree-decorating contest.
